For teams, developers & consultants
Get unblocked. Get better at Power BI.
Two ways in: a fast unblocking session when you're stuck right now, or training built on your own data, from a first look at Power BI to advanced. Online or in person.
- Bring the problem: a DAX measure that won't behave, a model that won't perform, a report that won't land with users
- Screen share, work it live, leave unblocked
- Written summary of what we changed and why
- Any level: from “What is Power BI and why would we use it?” through to advanced modelling, DAX and performance
- Report design people actually want to use: the Design before DAX approach
- Not generic demo files. Your team learns on your data, in your tenant, and leaves able to carry on the next morning
Half-day prep
Before anyone sits down to learn, the groundwork happens: Power BI installed, the right licences in place, access to your data agreed, and the material moulded to your systems and the questions your business asks.
One or two training days
Pitched at your level, from a first look at Power BI to advanced modelling, DAX and report design. Hands-on throughout, and all of it on your data rather than a demo file.
Working in your instance
The goal is not a certificate. Your team leaves building and reading reports in your own tenant, on the data they use every day, and they keep the materials.
Training is not one fixed course. A day takes one of these focuses, or blends a couple, depending on what your team needs. All of it taught on your data.
A first look at Power BI
What is Power BI? Why would you use it? What could it do for your business? A guided tour and the basics, shown on your own data so the answer is obvious.
Report design
More than visuals: why things sit where they sit, visual hierarchy, colour choice and colour theory, and how to make reports accessible to everyone who opens them.
Wireframing & report planning
Design before DAX in practice: sketch the page before you open Desktop, choose the right visual for each question, and agree what goes where with the people who'll use it.
Semantic models, properly
The deep end of data modelling: star schemas, relationships, granularity and the decisions that keep a model fast, trustworthy and ready for whatever gets asked of it.
Getting & transforming data
Connecting your sources, shaping data in Power Query, and building refreshes that don't fall over. The unglamorous layer that decides whether everything above it works.
DAX & measures
From first measures to time intelligence, written so the same measure gives the same answer on every page, and your team can read back what it does and why.

Frequently asked questions
What levels do you teach?
Any level. That ranges from a "What is Power BI and why would we use it?" first look for teams brand new to it, through report-building foundations, to advanced data modelling, DAX, Power Query, performance tuning and report design grounded in visual hierarchy, colour theory and accessibility.
Why does every training day start with a half-day prep?
Because generic training on demo files rarely sticks. The prep half-day clears the practical blockers before anyone sits down to learn: Power BI installed, the right licences in place, and access to your data agreed. It also lets me mould the material to your systems and the questions your business asks, so your team learns on the data they'll be using the next morning.
Do you do ongoing mentoring?
Yes. Regular sessions for a developer or a team work well as a retainer. Email me and we'll shape it around what you need.
Can sessions be recorded?
Yes, for your internal use. You keep the recording and the written summary.
How much is an unblocking session?
An unblocking session is £100. Bring a specific problem, we work it live over a screen share, and you leave unblocked with a written summary of what changed and why.
What do training days cost?
A 1-2-1 day is from £750 online or £850 in person; a small group (up to 4) from £950 or £1,100; a team day (up to 10) from £1,250 or £1,500. Rates depend on level and prep, and are confirmed before anything is booked.
